Luke has played a significant role in creating content for Indigenous animation initiatives.
When commissioned as the Creative Director for Dust Echoes – ancient stories, new voices, Luke spent several weeks with Tom E. Lewis – meeting and recording the traditional stories of the Beswick Community in the Northern Territory, Australia.
As a result, a series of 12 beautifully animated dreamtime stories from Central Arnhem Land were created, telling stories of love, loyalty, duty to country and aboriginal custom and law.
Luke would go on to work with Incite films, Farda Film, NITV & the SAFC on the animated short, Wadu Matyidi – An important South Australian initiative to preserve the Adnyamathanha language of the Flinders Rangers.
Luke teamed up with fellow creative, Arthur Moody to direct the 8-minute short.
A part of the project allowed Luke to introduce and train Indigenous talent through the SAFC Digital Media Attachment Scheme.
